Updated: 2008-10-20 16:07 CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh - New Zealand were set a target of 317 runs to win the first test against Bangladesh after the hosts were all out for 242 on the fourth day on Monday.
The touring side reached seven for no wicket at lunch. Bangladesh had resumed on 184 for eight and pace bowler Iain O'Brien got the day's first breakthrough when Abdur Razzak (18) was caught by Ross Taylor at slip. Mashrafe Mortaza and Razzak shared a 40-run ninth-wicket partnership to extend the lead. Mortaza scored 44, including seven fours, before he was stumped by wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum off part-time bowler Aaron Redmond. New Zealand openers Jamie How and Redmond survived three overs before the interval. |
