IOC President Rogge to run for second term

Updated: 2008-10-24 23:49 GENEVA -- International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacques Rogge has confirmed that he will run for a second term as the head of the Olympic Movement. The 66-year-old Belgian made the announcement in a letter to IOC members, the IOC said. Rogge succeeded Juan Antonio Samaranch as the IOC's eighth president in July 2001 in Moscow. His eight-year term expires in 2009, and he is eligible for a second term of four years during the election to be held next year in Copenhagen, Denmark. |
