BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina will host the Copa America in 2011.

"I know we will organize it in the best way possible," Argentine Football Association head Julio Grondona told La Red radio station on Tuesday from Asuncion, Paraguay, where he was attending the draw for the 2009 Copa Libertadores.

Grondona said Mexico and Japan may be re-invited to the South American championship, which would take the total number of participating countries to 14.

"Argentina doesn't have any problems" hosting Japan and Mexico, Grondona said. "Now the other South American countries just have to give their OK."

Argentina and neighboring Uruguay have won the most titles in the tournament's history -- 14 each. Argentina's last win was in 1993.

The country hosted the inaugural Copa in 1916, and in 1921, 1925, 1929, 1937, 1946, 1959 and 1987.
