It was the Barcelona-based club's fourth consecutive defeat and they had only managed one win from their previous 11 matches.

Assistant coach Oscar Perarnau will take training on Monday, but sports director Paco Herrera hoped to have a permanent replacement in place by Wednesday, the club said on their website.

Former coach Luis Fernandez, Miroslav Djukic and Jose Manuel Esnal were being linked with the position in the Spanish media.
