Champion Phillies' bonus share tops $350,000

Updated: 2008-12-03 09:27 NEW YORK - The post-season bonus pool shares for the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies was $351,504, while a full share for the American League champion Tampa Bay Rays was $223,390, Major League Baseball said on Tuesday.
The pool, formed from 60 percent of gate receipts from the first three games of the Division Series and 60 percent of receipts from the first four games of the League Championship series and World Series, was divided among 12 clubs. Phillies players, who beat the Rays 4-1 in the best-of-seven World Series, voted 45 full shares, seven partial shares and 15 cash awards from their haul of $18.417 million. Tampa Bay players divided their $12.278 million among 43 full shares, 10.6 partial shares and 27 cash awards. Bonus money also went to the runner-up clubs in the League Championship Series and Division Series, and the four regular season second-place teams that were not wildcard participants in the post-season. |
