Beijing Olympics chefs to cook for Harbin Universiade

Updated: 2009-02-18 17:25 YABULI -- The organizing committee of Harbin Universiade has invited 66 Beijing Olympics chefs to serve food for the Harbin Universiade to be opened up on Wednesday. "In order to ensure all the athletes to have tasteful food here, we have invited 66 chefs who cooked for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics to serve in the Universiade," said Li Feng, vice director of Heilongjiang province Sports Bureau on Wednesday. "They prepared menues are in line with the local tastes of various delegations," added Li.
Lokken Nils, a junior in British Columbia University, is a cross-country skier here for Canadian team. Nils has been training on skiing for four years, but it's his first Universiade and he did not expect much from the Harbin Universiade. "The food in my hotel is good. You can find the western food to our taste and you can also try some Chinese food," said 21-year-old Nils. "I just feel ok with the Chinese food here. We have six men and five women in our team for snow disciplines, for us the food and accommodation is something we enjoy. "The weather here is a little bit cold, but it's almost the same as that in Calgary in Canada. It's not a problem at all for training and competition." For Kindschi Joeri of Switzerland, also a cross-country skier, he was aiming to finish on podium. "I'm here to win a medal, at least I hope so," said Joeri, who's from HTW Chur University. "I finished in 12th three weeks ago in U-20 world championships, so I am going to win something here." "We have the food we want and the bedroom is comfortable. We enjoy our stay here," said Joeri, who had finished 28th in a World Cup last year. "The course is challenging and the weather is a little cold, but it won't set me back at all." |
