Basketball: Spain to host 2014 world championship

MADRID - Spain will host the 2014 basketball world championship, governing body FIBA said in a statement on their website (www.fiba.com) on Saturday.

Holders Spain saw off rival bids from China and Italy for the 2014 event. Games will be played in Madrid, Bilbao, Granada, Las Palmas and Seville.

The 2010 world championship is in Turkey.
