Women's 100m champion fails doping test at National Games

JINAN: Women's 100m race champion Wang Jing failed doping test at the 11th National Games, the organizing committee announced Monday.

Wang, from southeastern Fujian Province, was the gold medal winner in women's 100m final and second in 200m preliminary competition.

Her results had been stripped off, the deputy head of the Games' competition committee, Sun Yuanfu, told a press conference.

Jiang Lan from Jiangsu Province, who finished second in the women's 100m, will be awarded the gold medal. Jinagsu's Chen Jue and Jiangxi's Tao Yujia, the third and fourth, took the silver and the bronze.

It is the third doping case at the Games. A rower from Henan Province and a shooter from Inner Mongolia were found to take banned substances earlier at the Games.

They both have been kicked out of the competition.

"We plan to test 2,300 athletes at this Games," deputy head of the anti-doping department of the organizing committee, Zhao Jian, told Xinhua. "So far, we have tested more than two thirds."
