Veteran point guard Derek Fisher announced on Monday that he plans to re-sign with the reigning champion Los Angeles Lakers.
The five-time NBA champion took a look at offers from other teams as a free agent, including holding talks with the Miami Heat. But he said on his website on Monday he decided not to leave the franchise where he has spent 11 of his 14 NBA seasons.
Fisher started all 82 games last season, averaging 7.5 points and 2.5 assists. He elevated his game in the playoffs and finals, averaging 10.3 points to help the Lakers win their second-straight title.
Los Angeles already lost free agent Jordan Farmar to New Jersey on Monday.
The Heat re-signed one of their own on Monday, inking Udonis Haslem to a five-year deal worth around $20 million.
