MISANO, Italy - Japanese Moto2 rider Shoya Tomizawa has died after suffering a shocking crash during the San Marino Grand Prix, Italy's Mediaset television said on Sunday.
His Suter team and hospital officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
Suter's Tomizawa was travelling at full speed when he was hit by the bikes of Alex De Angelis and Scott Redding, who looked relatively unhurt.
The race continued and was won by Spain's Toni Elias.
Moto2 is the new name for the 250cc category below MotoGP.
