MPC volunteers take oath before starting their work.

GUANGZHOU - More than 500 volunteers attended an oath-taking ceremony and began their work at the Main Press Centre (MPC) of the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games and Asian Para Games on Sunday (October 17).
Ren Tianhua, Deputy Director of the Broadcasting & Media Services Department of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) and Director of the MPC, and Tong Hui, Deputy Director of the Volunteers Department of GAGOC, were present at the ceremony.
The MPC will be the headquarters for Games-time news operations of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games and provide 24-hour equipment, information and other services for accredited journalists and photographers from different countries and regions.
The MPC volunteers are mainly students from Sun Yat-sen University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Guangdong Pharmaceutical University with those from Sun Yat-sen University accounting for 90 per cent.
The volunteers work at seven major zones: the Lobby, the Press Workroom, the Photographer Workroom, the Press Conference Room, the Private Rental Space, the Guest Pass Office and the AGNS Zone.
