TOKYO - Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara said on Tuesday that the Japanese capital city will bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games, the Kyodo News reported.
According to Kyodo, Tokyo is ready to host the Olympics "at any cost," Ishihara told a symposium on post-disaster reconstruction work.
The statement followed Ishihara's remark in his policy speech at a regular session of the metropolitan assembly in June that Tokyo is prepared to launch another Olympic bid.
Tokyo hosted the Olympics in 1964 and lost out to Rio de Janeiro in the race for the 2016 Games.
