China's education authority will rank the country's regions and provinces on their students' physical health conditions and announce the results later, said a senior official in Beijing on Sunday.

Every year, each student will participate in a physical health test held by the schools and the results must be submitted to the ministry, said Wang Dengfeng, Chief Secretary of Physical, Hygiene and Arts Education Department under the Ministry of Education.

The test is part of the Ministry's of policies to improve students' health that has been implemented to help students improve physical health.

Increasing attention has been paid to the health conditions of students in recent years. Due to both busy study schedules and poor exercise habbits, the health of students has deteriorated.

There are over 1 million overstrength compulsory education teachers while there are 300,000 PE teacher vacancies, said Wang.
