Volleyball's 'Iron Hammer' double strikes team China

China's new national women's volleyball head coach Lang Ping meets the press as news of her appointment was announced Thurday morning in Beijing, April 25, 2013. Lang was the favorite to take the post in a campaign with three other candidates. As China's legend volleyball player, Lang, 53, led China's win in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, two World Cup titles in 1981 and 1985 and one World title in 1982 as captain. She coached China's women's team from 1995 and led the team to win the third place in the year's World Cup and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics runners-up. After coaching in Italy for six years, Lang took over team US from 2005 to prepare for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where the US beat China 3-2 in a preliminary game and eventually won silver. In 2009, she returned to Guangdong Hengda women's club and led the team to win the champion in 2011-12 league season. [Photo/Xinhua]
