Q&A
What is the most pressing problem in Chinese soccer?
Youth training. It's about fundamentals and everyone knows it. But we are not doing it right. Often we see outsiders take control of the administration and those who don't understand soccer coach young players. Now we are in need of youth coaches - especially aged 40 to 50. But many prime candidates are out of the game.
Which European leagues do you like best?
The Bundesliga and the Premier League are my favorites. World-class techniques, and the games are quite physical. That is real soccer in my eyes. To be honest, I don't like Barcelona, although the club plays beautiful soccer. It's just like watching a super-voice singer ... but I like those that can make me feel the love.
Fans call you 'Zhangmos' because you resemble Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos. What do you think of that?
Ha-ha. I don't think I look like him. Maybe it's because I am not a fan of Spain. In the 2014 World Cup, I will support Argentina, as I always do.
