Cambodia to host intl half marathon

PHNOM PENH - Cambodia will organize the 4th Sihanoukville International Half Marathon in coastal Preah Sihanouk province on March 8 to promote sports and attract more tourists to the coastal areas, a sports official said Monday.

"So far, more than 1,000 professional and amateur athletes, including about 100 foreign runners from 20 countries, have already registered in various categories for the race," Vath Chamroeun, secretary general of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, told a press conference.

There will be a 21-km run, along with a 10-km race and a 3-km fun run, he said.

Cambodia regularly hosts three annual half-marathon events, including the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon in every December and the Phnom Penh International Half Marathon in every June.
