WASHINGTON - The Chicago Bulls announced Tuesday that star Derrick Rose will have surgery on his right knee for the second straight season.

A MRI has confirmed the medial meniscus tear of the 2011 NBA MVP.

Rose, 26, played only 10 games last season before he had surgery, sidelining him for the year. He has been troubled by injuries since he won the MVP award.

Rose played only 39 games during the 2011-12 season and tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Game 1 of the 2012 playoffs against Philadelphia 76ers before missing the entire next season.
