LONDON - Tickets are selling for up to 4,000 US dollars as Steven Gerrard mania sparks a desperate search for tickets to watch his last ever home game with Liverpool.

Even fans from Crystal Palace who will be heading to Anfield on Saturday are being begged to part with their away-stand tickets,

such is the mission to get into the ground for the historic last appearance of the 34 years old Liverpool captain at home.

Normally tickets for a home match sell for less than 75 US dollars, but the chance to watch the Liverpool captain one last time on Anfield's hallowed turf is worth its weight in gold.

Gerrard will be given a guard of honor by players from both Liverpool and Crystal Palace as he walks onto the pitch Saturday.

The Liverpool captain gave his final pre-match press conference Thursday, talking about his career and his future, and hoping he would not be reduced to tears in front of a sell-out crowd Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder said the weekend match will be an emotional time for him, though he hopes not to shed any tears.
