Bolt beats Gatlin to win 100m gold

BEIJING - Jamaica's Usain Bolt clocked 9.79 seconds to win the men's 100m gold medal at the world athletics championships on Sunday.

American Justin Gatlin, the leading sprinter this year, had to settle for silver in 9.80.

Trayvon Bromell of the United States and Andre de Grasse of Canada shared the third place.

Chinese Su Bintian, the first ever Asian in a world championships 100m final, finished ninth in 10.06.
