INCHEON - Friday night's opening ceremony of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games is expected to escape the rain, though it will be mostly cloudy, weather forecasters said Monday.

Friday looks to start cloudy in the host city of Incheon, just west of Seoul, with a daytime high of 25 degrees Celsius, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration and private weather agency WeatherI Inc.

Despite increasing cloudiness in the evening, the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, the venue for the opening ceremony, should remain dry for the duration of the event as the city is likely to be under the influence of a high-pressure system.

Temperatures are forecast to drop to between 20 and 22 degrees by the time the event starts at around 7 p.m, forecasters said, adding that it's unlikely be windy.

Visitors are advised to bring fall jackets with them as the mercury may fall even further after the event, which ends at 10 p.m.

"Assuming that the stadium will be packed that evening, long sleeves might be too much," an official at WeatherI said. "We recommend that visitors wear short sleeves and keep jackets handy."
