To ensure the success of Shenzhen Universiade, the Institute of Advanced Computing and Digital Engineering of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technique (SIAT) of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) by utilizing its super computer will cooperate with the municipal meteorological department to forecast short-term weather conditions and issue disaster warnings such as storm and typhoon to help disaster prevention.

Generally, short-term weather forecast mainly serves for important matters such as city disaster prevention, big sports events and group activities. Feng Shengzhong, the standing deputy director of the institute of SIAT, said: currently, the accuracy of the US weather forecast for one-square-kilometer-area within an hour is 28%, while China is 14%. After the acceptance of the Grid Nodes in South China, the Digital Institute will work with the weather department to carry out the service for the games.
