Shenzhen ready for the Universiade

Shenzhen has been preparing for the Universiade since it won the bid in 2007, and is now ready, Pan Xiaohui, spokeswomen of the Games, said at a press conference Tuesday, August 2.

More than 12,000 people from 152 delegations around the world have confirmed to attend the Shenzhen Universiade, of which there are more than 8,000 athletes and 4042 officials.

With 804 delegates, 505 of whom are athletes, China ranks first in the number of participants, followed by Russia and Japan. All three countries will compete in the 24 sports.

The games schedule has been finalized and is accessible at www.sz2011.org, the official website of the Universiade organizing committee.

31 test centers have been set up for doping tests and all test samples will be flown to the Beijing laboratory, the only domestic lab identified by the World Anti-doping Agency.
