China vows domination at Universiade

A total of 505 Chinese athletes from 110 universities will arrive in Shenzhen on August 5 to compete in the 26th World University Games, the biggest ever delegation China has set up for this biannual event.

China vowed to maintain domination in the Universiade at the delegation form-up ceremony held in Beijing Sport University August 1. Officials from the Ministry of National Education, Federation of University Sports of China and China Mobile attended the ceremony.

China hopes to win medals in events including diving, gymnastics, table tennis, shooting, women's soccer, women's volleyball, badminton, chess, weightlifting, judo and more.

More than 12,000 athletes and officials from 180 countries and regions will compete in the Univeriade from August 12-23, the most important international competition held in China since the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games and 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.
