Xu Xin defeated fellow Chinese Yan An in a close final to win the men’s singles gold medal in table tennis at the Universiade in South China’s Shenzhen.

The match was frequently tied from the start, but Xu held his composure and took four sets, 14-12, 11-8, 11-7, 11-6, in a row.

China continued its dominance in its national sport, winning all seven table tennis gold medals at the Universiade.
