Meteor blast has higher force

A meteor that exploded over Russia Friday was larger than previously thought and more powerful too, NASA scientists say.

美国航天局(NASA)的科学家称，15日俄罗斯上空爆炸的陨石无论是体积还是释放的能量，都要比此前预测的大。

The 17-meter-wide rock was estimated by NASA to have a mass of 10,000 tons, The Daily Telegraph of London reported. It exploded with the power of a roughly 500-kiloton blast, 30 times greater than the Hiroshima bomb. It caused shockwaves that injured 1,200 people and damaged thousands of homes.

据英国《每日电讯报》报道，NASA的最新评估称，这颗陨石直径为17米，重1万吨，它释放的能量相当于约50万吨TNT(炸药的爆炸力)，威力为二战时广岛原子弹的30倍。陨石爆炸后产生的冲击波目前已造成1200人受伤，数千座房屋受损。
