D3: Deqin-->(103km)Yanjing-->(111km)Markham: Leave Deqin and drive to Markham. This part of the road, called the "Ancient Tea-horse Road", was once of economic significance in ancient China. Markham is where Yunnan links up to the Tibet Highway. Stay overnight in Markham.
D4: Markham-->Pomda-->Pasho: With two famous rivers Lancang and Jinsha , Markham offers a series of spectacular sceneries. The road running up and down through mountains and gorges makes for an exciting 265km drive. After arriving at Pomda, the landscape changes to grassland. After another 94km drive, arrive at Pasho. Stay overnight in Pasho.
D5: Pasho-->Pomi( Distance: 94km): The scenery in the east of Pomi is particularly beautiful. The road extends up along the Parlung Tsangpo River. After passing several stunning valleys, magical views are gradually unveiled. After days of driving on dusty and bumpy roads, arriving at mountainous Pomi, filled with beautiful forests, will be a welcome relief. Stay overnight in Pomi.
D6: Pomi-->Nyingtri (Distance: 216km): This leg of the journey offers constantly changing weather and scenery, and it is said that the area changes seasons in a day, and changes climate every ten miles. Stay overnight in Nyingtri
D7: Nyingtri: Nyingtri is a pleasant place to take a break after days of driving. The beautiful alpine Lake Draksumtso, also known as Bagsumtso is a sight worth seeing. Apart from the sheer beauty of the lake and its surrounding peaks, a temple near by may also appeal to visitors as it has strong connections to King Gesar, the semi-mythical ruler of eastern Tibet. Other places worth mentioning are the temple of Nyingma and Lamaling Monastery.Stay overnight in Nyingtri.
