Manishi

Manishi

Such stones carved with Tibetan characters are quite common in Tibet. Local people call them Manishi, and believe they embody their prayers to the Buddha. Some people pile these Manishi, rocks and screes carved with Tibetan characters and images, into a wall, and others pile ordinary stones with nothing carved on them into a three or four-meter-high pyramid, called Manidui (piles of Manishi).
