While traveling to Chiengmai in Thailand recently, photographer Lian Jinian placed her own image in the photos she took in an unusual way.

In the room in which she stayed, on the streets she strolled and on the paths she took on a scooter, wherever there was a mirror or shop window in which her image was refl ected, she caught the opportunity to press the shutter.

In her view, simply photographing the landscape is not appealing.

Standing in scenic spots and posing before the camera is not exciting enough and selfi es with smartphones cannot capture the great views at the same time.

"Retaining the images in this way is more interesting and makes the journey unforgettable. And it does not require clever shooting skills. Just a sharp eye and a creative mind," Lian says.

"If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to have fun. Great ideas will pop out naturally."

The basic equipment, of course, helps.

Lian took the photos with a Canon 5D2 and two lenses, a 50 mm / F1.4 and a 35 mm / F1.4.
