Ali in Tibet: Heaven for wild animals

Photo taken on Oct 23 in Ali Prefecture, Tibet shows Kiangs roaming free in the vast grassland. Ali prefecture, with an average elevation of 4,500 meters, is one of the remotest areas in Tibet and was dubbed as a heaven for wild animals, especially after the Qiangtang Nature Reserve was established in the mid 1990s, which nearly covers the whole of Ali prefecture. With the nation's evergrowing awareness on protecting wild animals, illegal hunting is strictly prohibited and severely punished. As a result, the number of wild animals in the prefecture is increasing significantly on an annual basis.[Photo/Xinhua]
