A recreational vehicle and camping rally will be held in Beijing on June 19-22.

The event aims to boost RV and camping culture and industry and let the world understand RV and camping development in China.

"To date, we have 10,000 recreational vehicles in China," says Liu Hanqi, general secretary of the China Tourism Automobile and Cruise Association.

Roughly 53 percent of Chinese tourists took self-drive trips in 2013, Liu says.

"The number is expected to hit 60 percent in 2014."

Liu claims that the State Council has affirmed its support of RV and camping development in China, and a total of 18.5 billion yuan ($3 billion) has been invested in the sector.

Developing RV and camping facilities will help the development of the self-drive tourism market, says the rally's organizing committee.

At the moment, Beijing has 23 camping facilities up and running, 21 under construction and 78 planned, says Li Yan, an official with the Beijing Tourism Industry Association’s auto-camping branch.

This year's event will feature family-friendly show Snow White, and a professional RV and camping products exhibition.

Famous caterers will also participate in the rally, including Donglaishun and Kempinski, according to the organizing committee.

The rally is sponsored by the Beijing Tourism Group, and undertaken by the Hualong Industrial and the Beijing Tourism Industry Association's auto-camping branch. It will be held at the Longwan International Camping Park in the municipality's Yanqing district.
