Miaogong tourism resort to be built in Hebei
Chengde, known for the Imperial Summer Resort, is going to build a Miaogong tourism resort in Weichang Manchu and Mongolian autonomous county of Chengde, North China's Hebei province, the Weichang Tourist Administration announced on Friday.
The launching ceremony of the new tourism resort was held during the 2015 Mulan Weichan Forest and Prairie Tourism Culture Festival.
Mulan Weichan used to be a royal hunting ground and summer retreat during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), and now is a natural grassland resort covering an area of 2,324 square kilometers
Many Qing Dynasty cultural relics and historic sites have been discovered in the area.
Boasting rich cultural and natural resources, the new resort aims to be a national 4A scenic spot, covering a total area of 117.3 square kilometers.
Ma Yuwen, deputy head of Weichang, said that Miaogong tourism resort will become a new highlight for the development of local tourism and its main body and related infrastructure are going to be completed by 2020.
