Suzhou in East China's Jiangsu province recently started a two-month promotion in Portland, Los Angeles, Fort Lauderdale and New York City, to showcase the picturesque city as a destination. It's a part of its current social media campaign running in North America and Europe.

Besides news conferences, the Suzhou tourism bureau also organizes interactive events with those who are interested in the city.

The first stop was its sister city, Portland. Those who visited Lan Su Chinese Garden, a replica of a Suzhou-style garden, on March 22 could share their photos with the hashtag #travelSuzhou and tag the destination’s social media accounts such as Facebook to win souvenirs including silk scarves and tea.

In New York, one of the city's iconic water taxis will be painted with the Suzhou tourism bureau's logo and appear around New York Harbor between April 24 and May 7. During this time, locals and visitors can take a photo of it and upload it on social media with the hashtag, #travelSuzhou. Those who take the best photos will be rewarded with prizes.
