Yinchuan gears up to host self-drive festival

Nearly 10,000 self-drive fans will gather in the city for the event, according to the organizer.
A photography competition, a folk performance, an auto tour, a water sports performance and carnivals will be staged during the festival.
One of the highlights of the event is that participants can drive from Yinchuan along the Silk Road routes to foreign countries.
The event's predecessor was held 11 times and was then known biggest of its kind in Asia. It used to be jointly hosted by the Yinchuan government and Ningxia tourism bureau.
The autonomous region is a favorite with travelers for its unique natural landscape and folk customs, especially elements featuring the Western Xia Dynasty (1038-1227) and the Hui ethnic group.
Visitors can enjoy the Yellow River, prairies, deserts, wetlands, cliff painting and karst landforms.
