Choreographer Heinz Heidenreich of the Vienna State Opera, who was in charge of the ceremony, taught newcomers the traditional Viennese waltz.

A charity raffle was held at the event, with proceeds going to the Sunvillage Project, a non-governmental charity program that the hotel has supported throughout the past year.

Sunvillage was established in 1996 to provide disadvantaged rural youth with education and training for independence and integration into society. Over a period of 20 years, Sunvillage has established operations in nine provinces throughout China, providing shelter for over 2,000 unattended children.
