A government-supported foundation plans to finance the research and development of milk powder for Chinese people.
The Beijing Natural Science Foundation will provide 1 million yuan by the end of this year for the program. China's milk powder market is dominated by expensive foreign brands, and the foundation hopes the program can help develop a cheaper domestic brand of milk powder, China National Radio reported on Tuesday.
