Laundry polluting reservoir
Many residents are washing clothes and bed linen with Yangtze River water on the banks of the Three Gorges Reservoir after stored water reached a depth of 175 meters in Wanzhou, South China's Chongqing municipality on Tuesday.
The number of cleaners sometimes exceeds 100, which has led to the creation of businesses renting laundry necessities such as washing machines.
Waste water is discharged directly into the river, polluting it and threatening fresh-water users.
