A truck from ANT, a moving company, drove into a residential community with a banner saying "Against the 'Singles Day' online sales" and "Resist 'junk' consumption" on Friday, newssc.org reported.

A staff member from the company said a physical store was behind the campaign. He said the boss of that outlet has rented 100 trucks in 16 cities to appeal for reasonable consumption during the 'Singles Day'.

The idea of 'Singles Day' was first dreamed up by the recently floated e-commerce giant AlibabaGroup Holding Ltd five years ago to encourage people without partners to comfort themselves with some retail therapy.
