Wildlife set free

Twelve wild birds were set free from a bird dealer in Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan province, on Tuesday, dfic reported. The birds, most of them are eagles, are on China wildlife protection list, according to the police.

The bird dealer, a 66-year-old woman surnamed Hu, argued that she rescued the birds and would set them free eventually rather than sell them. But a policeman said he had seen a large eagle in the store priced at 2,000 yuan ($325) and with a smaller specimen going for 1,000 yuan.

Sadly, one bird has died before set free back to the sky.
