Eighteen university students formed a human chain to rescue a suicidal woman in Qinhuangdao, North China's Hebei province on Sunday, the official microblog of People's Daily reported.
Seeing the suicidal woman about to submerge under water, two male students rushed into the sea. The others, hand in hand, formed a 30- to 40-meter-long life line in the cold sea water and pulled her back ashore.
Experts pointed out that rescuing drowning people using a human chain is very dangerous. People are advised to throw equipment like rope, bamboo poles, tied belts or clothes.
