"True art" creates controversy
It is normal and understandable for an artist to use a nude model to create works; but that changes to abnormal for some if the nude model is his daughter. One such case of a daughter posing nude for her father happened right in Southwest China's Sichuan province.
Oil painter Li Zhuangping, 61, has created a huge controversy after displaying his series of paintings titled "Oriental Goddess and Mountain Ghost," which feature a naked lady with different animals in fantastical scenes. According to Li, the lady in the painting was inspired from his 23-year-old daughter, Li Qin.
Thousands of art lovers and Internet users termed Li's act as unethical as they believed the father-daughter relationship should not be highlighted in such a radical way. There are also many positive voices supporting Li, saying he is brave enough to present the world true art.
