What is "patriotic fish"? Our story tells you.

"Patriotic fish", which are farmed around Meiji Reef in South China Sea, were sold out in two hours, as citizens queued to buy them in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian province, on Tuesday, Chinanews.com reported.

They are raised by an 82-year-old retired professor, Lin Zailiang, who along with three relatives and nine fishermen landed at Meiji Reef in 2007 and began farming fishes. This is the third year that he took the fishes to his hometown Fuzhou for sale ahead of Spring Festival.

"Farming fish around Meiji Reef is to safeguard state sovereignty," Lin said. Moved by Lin's action, buyers call his fishes "patriotic fish".
