Villagers carry natural gas in plastic bags

Villagers were spotted transporting huge plastic bags containing natural gas by tricycle in Dongying, East China's Shandong province, icpress.cn reported.

The photos made an instant splash online when they were uploaded onto news portals and social media networks, with many saying it was way too dangerous as the gas could explode if exposed to flammable objects like cigarettes.

It is not known how long this has been practiced or what the real reason behind the villagers' strange way of transporting the gas is, but sources say the villagers were trying to save money.

Dongying is home to the Shengli Oilfield, China's second largest oilfield.
