Lottery thief disappointed at meager prize

A man who stole a huge number of lottery tickets was disappointed when he found the prize money he got was less than the amount he spent hiring people to scratch the tickets, reported Huashang Daily on Thursday.

The man, surnamed Zhang, broke into a lottery store in Yulin, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on April 6. After running away with tickets worth 40,000 yuan ($6,440), he hired two men to help him scratch the tickets for 1,000 yuan ($160). But to his disappointment, he was caught by the police before he could scratch all the tickets, and besides, the two winning tickets he found were worth only 20 yuan and 80 yuan respectively.
