War relic torn down

A bunker that survived the ravages of war did not escape being bulldozed by real estate developers, reported Legal Daily.

The demolished relic was a bomb shelter built during the period of the War of Resistance against the Japanese Aggression (1937-1945). The military facility which sits in Daxing district of Beijing had been serving as a patriotic education base before it was torn down by a local real estate developer.

The developer was fined 500,000 yuan (around $80,000) for the destruction.
