Volunteer clears 270 tonnes of cow dung in four years

Picking up cow dung is probably one of the least pleasant tasks you can do, and yet a villager in Liuzhou, Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region not only took up the task voluntarily, but gained a reputation for doing it.

Zhou Shanyu, 57, picked up more than 270 tonnes of cow dung during his spare time over four years in his 20's, and in recognition of his efforts the Guangxi government conferred the title of "working model" on him, chinanews.com reported on April 28, 2015.

He now picks up and transports rubbish in his village and three neighboring villages after work for three to four hours a day to help clean the environment.
