Books worth $322,000 sold as waste paper

Six thieves stole books worth two million yuan ($322,374) from a factory and then sold them for just 10,000 yuan as waste paper.

The burglars claimed that they only took 1,000 boxes and had no idea that the books were worth so much. Some of them were still working at the factory when they were caught.

The books were stored in a printing factory in Changchun city, Jilin province, in 3,355 boxes weighing 50 tons in total. Only 185 boxes have been recovered.

The gang included a security guard from the factory and the owner of a salvage station. They started removing the books in October last year and it took them 10 trips to steal the whole stuff.

In our next story, we reveal what an angry woman did with her car.
