Man raises adopted disabled girl in mountains

A man in his 70s who guards the Shengquan temple in Xiao county of Anhui province has reportedly been raising a girl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy for 14 years in the mountains, according to dfic.cn.

Li Yuhua, who had no family when he first started guarding the temple twenty years ago, found the girl abandoned at the gate of a hospital in the county. He then brought her back home and raised her in the cabin he lived in near the temple.

Every day, Li would take the girl with him to meditate on the mountain. He said he was happy spending days with his daughter despite the difficulties.

The two receive about 6,000 yuan ($967) in subsidies from the government every year. The girl had been treated in Beijing's hospitals with donations years ago, but saw no improvement.
