Thousands of wind chimes 'looted' by tourists

A scenic spot in East China's Zhejiang province decorated trees with thousands of wind chimes for an event, only to find they were stolen by tourists in several days, chinanews.com reported.

Many tourists took away the wind chimes on the first day of the event, which started on the May Day holiday. Some of them used tree branches to help them reach the chimes, and some even climbed on the trees themselves, ignoring warnings to the contrary. Only a few chimes were left after the three-day holiday.

The wind chimes were expected to last till the end of this month, but the event was forced to end on May 6.

A previous event at the spot featuring silk parasols faced the same problem, according to workers at the scenic spot.
