Teachers smash students' cell phones

A high school in Wuhan, Hubei province, that had banned students from bringing in their cell phones to help them concentrate on their studies smashed the devices they found during a surprise check, according to Chutian Metropolis Daily on Wednesday..

According to students who did not want to reveal their names, two teachers from moral education office showed up in the classroom and asked the students to leave the class and then began searching the whole room.

An iPhone, a Samsung and a Xiaomi phone were discovered after they searched all the desks and school bags. Teachers told the students to come forward and admit who had brought them. When nobody came forward, the teachers smashed the devices.

After the incident, students said it was not right for teachers to destroy their personal belongings.

The principle said the school will compensate the students and handle the teachers' misconduct.
