The broken screen of a Samsung mobile phone. |
A man who believed an advertisement that a cellphone could crack open a walnut found the advertisement false when he tried it out, reported Huashang Daily on Friday.
The man surnamed Gao bought a smartphone at a shopping mall in Xi'an recently after seeing an advertisement in the store showing that model breaking a walnut with its screen.
However, when the man brought the phone home and tried to perform the stunt himself, the smartphone's screen broke, while the walnut remained intact.
The man took the broken cellphone to the shop for compensation, claiming that the advertisement was misleading.
But the shop refused his request on the grounds that the damage was not a result of poor quality. The man reported the dispute to the police and after negotiating, the shop gave the man 1,000 yuan (around $160) as compensation.
